Playing Office

On my first official day as a full-fledged freelancer, this is how my kitchen looked like. And now I have time to blog and get my online life in order.

My last day aboard the mother ship was quite serene and uneventful. Perhaps because I feel that I will still be a frequent passenger anyway. After all, I am not one to say goodbye to a hearty, savory bowl of Ocean Don. No, no, no.

Meanwhile, I have a beckoning to-do list. Between beating procrastination and battling paralyzing fear (i.e. Will I make the rent? Will I get enough projects to sustain my Whole Foods addiction habit? Will I finally meet Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson?) I am tackling tasks as well as planning for the future.

It's time to heed my own advice.

July felt like a theme park ride—dizzying, exciting, and at times, disorienting.

I, too, baked and cooked like a madman after I resigned! Now I do it because it's part of my new 'job'. Good luck dearest. Pretty soon your questions will be more like "Do I accept this project?", "Do I rest this week?", and the like. :)

Ianne!! It's so lovely and reassuring to read your comment :) Thanks! I have faith that you are right.

But did you feel sleepy all the time in the beginning?:p

Oh hey! I didn't know you moved to NYC. I should visit Friendster more often. :) Good luck with conquering the city. It sounds like you're having the adventure of your life already.

Send me some of those baked goodies!

Hi Joy!

Oh my, I saw your website, it's amazing! :) You are a true blue foodie!

Pardon me please, but I know at least three Joys... could you enlighten me which one are you? Sorry about that, but thanks!

Just a few more weeks...

Yes! I was so scared I'd sleep my life away. But I just caught up on sleep. Which we all need to do otherwise we're off kilter! I slept, ate, swam and cooked and did noothing. Give yourself a ton of Zzs. Freelance people have good skin :)

Grabe, Ianne—you zeroed in on that one perfectly! As in, my skin cleared within days of leaving! What I'd thought was adult acne turned out to be stress-related :p Remember we used to call it the resignation glow? That's my favorite part so far :D

Joy J. from UP! [I found your link on Friendster, when I finally logged in after a lifetime...haha]. I wish I had known you've been blogging all this time.

Heya, Neighbor! Did you bake those or did they come from a bakeshop? Those look uber deadly!

Miss ya super! I hope you are doing well (just not to much cookies, okay? heehee).

Hi Neighbor! I made them :) I had a slab of leftover "deadly" dark chocolate so I made brownies, they're Nigella Lawson's Triple Chocolate Brownies that I saw on YouTube :)

I know what you mean hehe... That's why I'm always glad to give a bunch away ;)

Hi, Sam! So nice to hear from you :) I browsed your blog and I must say it's super inspiring! I like the verse you put, “Wisdom… is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others.” (James 3:17)

New York is a roller coaster ride but in a way it's fun and a big learning experience. You seem happy and doing well and I'm very happy for you and Rob! :)
